This article explains how to configure the WiFi WAN Client feature on the WGT-11 and what you should consider to ensure a stable network connection.
1. Check WiFi WAN Client Requirements
- Ensure that the WiFi settings of the WGT-11 match your WiFi network configuration (SSID, security mode, and password)
- Check whether the WiFi signal strength at the device’s location is sufficient
2. Configuration Steps
- Connect to the gateway using one of the following methods:
- Connection via Wi-Fi:
- Connect to the SSID:
rational-xxxxxx
- Password:
rational1234
- Open in your browser:
http://10.130.1.1
- Connect to the SSID:
- Connection via the LAN network:
- Connect to the network where the gateway is integrated
- Determine the IP address of the gateway in your network
- Open in your browser:

- Direct connection via network cable:
- Connect your notebook directly to the WGT-11 via RJ45 cable
- Configure your notebook:
- IP-Address:
172.31.255.253
- Subnet Mask:
255.255.255.252
- IP-Address:
- Open in your browser:
http://172.31.255.254
➔ Login: Log in with the default credentials or your own:
User:root
Password:dragino
- Navigate to: Network → Wireless
- Select WiFi WAN Client mode from the available options
- Configure the WiFi parameters:
- SSID: Enter the exact name of your WiFi network
- Security/Encryption: Select the correct encryption method (e.g., WPA2)
- Password: Enter the WiFi password
- Save the settings and restart the gateway if necessary
3. Important Notes
- Do not enable WiFi Access Point (AP) and WiFi WAN Client at the same time
Enabling both functions simultaneously will cause connection issues and may prevent the gateway from establishing a stable connection. - If you want to switch from Access Point mode to WiFi WAN Client mode:
- Activate the WiFi WAN Client function and save the setting
- After that, check if the WiFi Access Point mode is disabled
4. Connection Test
- Check whether the WGT-11 is successfully connected to the WiFi in Homescreen (status: “Connected”)
- Verify internet access and data transmission to the ConnectedCooking server
5. Recommendations
- Prefer using WiFi WAN mode only if a wired LAN connection is not available
- Ensure that the firmware is up to date to avoid compatibility issues with current WiFi standards
